Summer is for things like swimming and eating copious amount of popsicles. For some families, it’s for traveling to visit their relatives. For me, summers are for holding extended family sessions in Colonial Williamsburg (I am so predictable with that location!). Today’s blog is about the Rivera Family’s session!
Colonial Williamsburg is for history, family… and family history!
When booking in an extended family session, you are investing in documenting your family and preserve your family history right now. That is what makes these sessions so special to me! Colonial WIlliamsburg is a popular place for families to convene from all over the country and spend a few days together. Extended family sessions are not something that every photographer offers because they can be a little… crazy. But being from a large family, I welcome the happy chaos! During these sessions I like to shoot frame worthy posed shots, social media worthy candid shots and swoon worthy galleries that will hopefully make someone in your family cry. And lets be real… it’s probably your mom.
During most extended family sessions I plan to capture:
•2-3 posed shots of the whole group
•2-3 posed shots of each individual family (as a group, just the kids and sometimes each parent with the kids)
•Each couple
•Grandparents with their adult children
•Grandparents with the grandchildren
•All kids/cousins together
•All adult siblings together
•Any generational shots
•Individual shot of each person (new profile picture… facebook, linkedin, zoom or dating site! You always need a good profile image!)
•Candid shots of your family interacting and having a good time.
•Any fun shots that you want. I let the groups personality guide us on this one, I don’t force it!!
