Vintage 1950’s Wedding | Mount Ida Farm

Charlottesville, Va | Styled Shoot

I am constantly learning new things in order to provide my couples with the best experience possible. Part of this growth comes from attending styled shoots geared towards weddings. Back in December I attended my very first styled shoot, Creatively Gathered 2019. I loved the idea of shooting three weddings in one day. The 1950’s Vintage Wedding was especially exciting to me! I also liked the idea of trying new things with no pressure.

Did I just say no pressure?? Being that this was my very first styled shoot, I had absolutely no idea what I was in for. My goals were simple. I wanted to try a few new techniques, get some great shots for my wedding portfolio and make some new friends in the industry. Check and CHECK! Photographers were assigned to small groups. The lovely ladies that headed it all up made sure that that each group had a mix of skill level. Groups had leaders to make sure things ran smoothly.

Mount Ida Farm | 1950’s Vintage Wedding

The day was beyond beautiful! Situated on a mountain in Central Virginia, Mount Ida Farm is a beautiful location. I was blissfully enjoying the company of my peers and soaking in every detail that I could. I learned right away that this was not the time to take my time! Things moved swiftly. I had to get creative about how to grab my shot with other photographers doing the same.

Each wedding was beautifully curated and had amazing details. I can’t wait to share each of them here with you! The Vintage 1950’s Wedding gave me all of the feels when my group arrived at the location! Our bride Bailey could have very well been Marilyn Monroe’s grand daughter. Her husband, and co-model, Robie just adored her. The details included a fur stole, vintage inspired jewelry as well as vintage touches for the flat lays. I am still delighted about the whisky bar and spectacular getaway vehicles. Both a vintage inspired motorcycle with side car and a vintage Rolls Royce!

This event set the gold standard for styled shoots, I will do it again in a heart beat!
