If you have been following JBP for a little while, you may recognize little Henry! He is JBP’s very first First Year Plan! This means that I documented all of his major milestones; newborn, three months, six months and one year. Henry’s cake smash is the final installment of his plan and it makes me a little sad! Doesn’t Henry look broken up about it too!?
Actually- Henry is more upset by the general idea of a photo session! I do not take it personally. At this age babies are at the hight of the “stranger danger” stage. Henry recognizes that I am not part of his inner circle and he is cautious of me. It’s cool, we will be friends by the end of the session (usually!).
At this point in the session we are 50/50. Half tears and half okay! Bringing out the little white chair makes most toddlers happy- does it work for Henry?
I think so!! Henry likes pushing the chair around and doesn’t mind sitting in the chair as long as him mamma is close by!
Henry’s Cake Smash: shades of blue
So Henry’s mom, Dina, really liked these polka dot banners. You know I LOVE polka dots so I was down for it! This is the first time I’ve ever made banners like this! Lets just say that these didn’t hold up the way I thought they would. Failure? No, but lessons were definitely learned. Super cute though, right?
BEHOLD the CAKE! Because that’s about all that happened! He took a few tastes but Henry’s cake smash was not about the smash. Instead this session is all about giggles, the paper circles and my big roll of blue painters tape! (I left those images out of the blog but did send one to his mom for giggles!)
All that matters is that this little guy had fun and his mamma has some amazing images to document her baby’s firs year! I think we can check both of those boxes! As part of their First Year Plan, Henry’s parents will receive a beautiful photo book with images from each of his JBP sessions!
Thank you, Dina and Mark, for sharing your baby’s first year with me! It has been amazing to watch Henry grow. While I am sad that our regular sessions have come to an end, I know we will see each other often!
